Hiwar (Exhibition)

About

There is an inherent feeling of lament and pain within the visual and aesthetic culture of pearl diving music. Through Hiwar, Zahed explores how the music and the culture surrounding it can move away from rehashed versions and evolve instead, through re-imagining its forms. Audio, video, and dance are the mediums Zahed has been utilizing to re-imagine the culture, with a focus on preserving its essence whilst re-presenting it in a contemporary, relatable way. Hiwar aims to spark an inter-generational dialogue through multimedia that speaks to today’s youth and engages audiences internationally.

Format

Hiwar (Exhibition) is a series of large format, experiential and interactive video installations that draw audiences into a world of contemporary culture and music from the Arabian Gulf that is informed by tradition and heritage. The exhibition comes together as either a network of uniquely designed spaces that audiences engage with as a multi-sensory storytelling experience or a single immersive journey within a closed / controlled environment. (Suitable for all ages)
